Alleging that the Congress leaders were supporting people who violated the Constitution and court orders, RDPR Minister K.S. Eshwarappa said the party would not get the seats required to be the principal Opposition party in the next elections if they continued with this style of functioning.
Speaking to presspersons in Shivamogga on Tuesday, Mr. Eshwarappa said Congress leaders D.K. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah had been supporting people who violated the court’s order. “In this country the Constitution and court’s orders are supreme. Everyone should obey them. When Muslims observed bandh opposing the court’s order on the hijab row, Mr. Siddaramaiah supported them”, he said.
The Congress should decide whom to support. “If it continues with this style, it would suffer defeat in the elections. Already it has lost many elections. In the next Assembly polls, it may not win the seats required to be the principal Opposition party”, he said.
Referring to the row over the azan call, Mr. Eshwarappa said there were set rules on using the sound system in public places. “If the mosques use the sound system without disturbing others, as it is done in temples, it would not be a problem. Everyone should obey the rules”, he added.
