Congress holds state wide protests against PM Modi's comments on Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday tweeted that "Modi hatesTelangana" and that the prime Minister’s speech in Parliament on the bifurcation of the state has only exposed the fact that it is Congress not the TRs which got Telangana.

Revanth also tweeted that the PM’s speech also exposed the fact that the BJP hates Telangana and had done nothing for it and demanded that Modi should apologise unconditionally for insulting the Telangana martyrs.

Congress members including its legislature party leader Bhatti Vikramarka, MLC T Jeevan Reddy, former minister Md Ali Shabbir, former MP V Hanumanth Rao, senior vice-president G Niranjan, Youth Congress state president Shivsena Reddy among others held separate media conferences and alleged that PM Modi actually wanted to project the Congress in a negative frame on state bifurcation issue but got exposed that he hates Telangana. They also sought to know why KCR was not responding to the PM's controversial remarks on Telangana state formation.

Congress and its frontal organisations members on Wednesday organised protest programmes including funeral procession and burning the effigies of PM Modi for his comments on bifurcation of the state in the Parliament.

Revanth said two hashtags #ModiHatesTelangana and #WhereIsKCR trended on Twitter on Wednesday with Twitterati slamming both PM Modi for his remarks and condemning CM KCR for his silence on the issue.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday disallowed the adjournment motion moved byMalkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy regarding the breach of oath of office by CM KCR. “The Telangana CM called for abolishing the existing Constitution and writing a new one for India. He is inciting the youth of this country to revolt," Revanth alleged.

Revanth announced that the Congress would continue to raise the issue on all public platforms besides exploring legal options against KCR's remarks against the Constitution.

Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir alleged that PM Modi spoke about developments which took place in 2013 when he was not even a Member of Parliament. "Telangana Bill was passed by the Congress-led UPA government after full-fledged debate in both the Houses of Parl;iament. Modi should explain why the BJP government passed several laws including amendments to the Land Acquisition Act, Triple Talaq Bill and the Citizenship Amendment Act without debate. Many decisions like demonetisation, abrogation of Article 370 and three controversial Farm Laws were passed without full-fledged debate,” Shabbir Ali alleged.
