The activists of Congress party and its frontal organisations staged protests against the Central and State governments across Telangana on Monday demanding the two governments to rollback the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, electricity, and RTC charges.
Mahila Congress and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged protests at B.R. Ambedkar statue on the Tank Bund separately.
Led by NSUI State president Balmuri Venkat, the students’ union activists raised slogans against the Central and State governments., as also against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the increase in fuel prices, power tariff, and RTC fares.
The activists held placards with slogans against the hike in fuel prices, power, and RTC charges written on them. Mr. Venkat said the lives of poor and the middle class were burdened heavily with the increase in fuel prices and other charges effected by the Central and State governments. After completion of the Assembly elections of five States, the prices of petrol and diesel were hiked by about ₹12 each in the State and the domestic gas price was hiked by another ₹100 per cylinder, he alleged.
