MUMBAI: A major mishap was averted in Malad area of Mumbai on Saturday night, thanks to the presence of mind of the bus conductor.
The lives of 35 passengers on board and that of the driver and conductor were saved.
BEST spokesperson Sunil Vaidya informed the media on Sunday that the bus was ferrying 30-35 passengers from Dindoshi and was passing through Pushpa Park in Malad East when the driver felt giddy.
"He was unable to see properly and suddenly fell unconscious, thereby falling from the seat of the diver cabin. On seeing his condition, the conductor rushed towards the driver's cabin and immediately pulled the emergency brake. This brought the bus to a sudden halt and prevented a major mishap," he added.
