- A complete fossil of the iconic dinosaur Diplodocus has been discovered in Europe for the first time, at the La Tejería site in Teruel, eastern Spain.
- Dated to 150 million years ago, the 25-metre-long specimen provides compelling evidence that dinosaurs migrated between North America and Europe during the Late Jurassic period.
- Researchers identified the specimen as a close relative of Diplodocus hallorum due to exceptionally preserved tail vertebrae and distinctive anatomical features.
- Study author Sergio Sánchez Fenollosa stated that the find provides some of the strongest palaeontological evidence of faunal exchange across temporary land bridges over the proto-Atlantic Ocean.
- The fossil has been put on display in the dinosaur hall of the Museo Aragonés de Paleontología at Dinópolis in Teruel.
