Police complaint files against Ram Gopal Varma for tweet against Droupadi Murmu

HYDERABAD: Two BJP leaders on Friday approached Abids police seeking action against director Ram Gopal Varma, accusing him of posting objectionable remarks against NDA presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu.

Abids inspector B Prasad Rao told TOI that they have sought legal opinion on the complaint by BJP leaders Guduru Narayan Reddy and Nandeshwar Goud. “If DRAUPADI is the PRESIDENT who are the PANDAVAS? And more importantly, who are the KAURAVAS?” RGV tweeted.

On Friday, he posted another tweet (sic): “This was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way ..Draupadi in Mahabharata is my faviourate character but since the name is such a rarity I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone.”
