Gross investment into the Scottish estates market more than doubled last year, with the average price of land sold increasing by 87% from £4.7m to £8.8m.
Strutt & Parker’s annual market review showed a record of nearly £250m was invested in the purchase of Scottish estates in 2021, up by 119% from £113m in 2020 - itself also a record - and a 333% increase over the four-year period from 2018, when £57m was invested.
Robert McCulloch, head of estates and farm agency for Strutt & Parker in Scotland, said: “The estate market during 2021 was more active and dynamic than at any time in my 20-year career.”
