Patients who rely on a federally funded community health center may start hearing more about food, sleep, physical activity, and screen time during routine visits. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched the Health Center Healthy Lifestyle Commitment on Oct. 14, encouraging HRSA-supported clinics to make nutrition and prevention central to patient care.
The key word is voluntary. HHS said participation creates no new federal requirements or standards of care, and a center's decision will not affect its eligibility for HRSA funding. Any changes will vary by clinic, and some patients may notice nothing at all.
