Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 9: Neeraj Chopra, 10 Indian boxers eye gold medals, check full schedule

India's campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Friday, July 31, will be highlighted by Neeraj Chopra's men's javelin throw final, where the Olympic champion will aim to add another gold medal to his career achievements.

Neeraj qualified for the final with a best throw of 79.61m, finishing fifth in the qualification round at Scotstoun Stadium. He will face a strong field featuring defending champion Arshad Nadeem, Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, world champion Keshorn Walcott and former world champion Anderson Peters. India's Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh will also compete in the 12-athlete final.

Neeraj Chopra leads India's athletics events

The men's javelin throw final will begin at 12:45 AM IST on August 1, with Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh representing India.

In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar will continue his decathlon campaign after ending Thursday's events in second place. He will compete in the 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1500m events.

Yashas Palaksha and Santhosh Kumar T will compete in the men's 400m hurdles final, while India's mixed 4x400m relay team will also be in action.

India's boxing contingent targets record medal haul

India's boxers will aim to secure places in the finals after all 10 athletes entered the semi-finals, guaranteeing the country its biggest-ever boxing medal haul at a Commonwealth Games.

Sakshi Chaudhary, Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary and Lovlina Borgohain will compete in the women's categories.

In the men's section, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal and Narender Berwal will fight for final berths.

Judo campaign begins for India

India will begin its judo campaign at the Games, with Harsh Singh, Shraddha Kadubal Chopade, Rohit Basir Majgul, Asmita Dey and Yamini Mourya entering their respective events.

Harsh Singh will compete in the men's 60kg round of 16, while Shraddha Kadubal Chopade will feature in the women's 52kg round of 16. Rohit Basir Majgul will participate in the men's 66kg round of 16.

Asmita Dey and Yamini Mourya will compete in the women's 48kg and 57kg quarter-finals, respectively, subject to qualification.

Cycling, bowls events on India's schedule

Indian cyclists will compete in the men's 4000m individual pursuit, keirin and elimination race events.

In bowls, Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar will face Ian Barnes and Oliver Thompson in the men's pairs sectional play. The Indian duo will look to secure crucial points ahead of a possible decisive contest against England.
