An expert has warned anyone who charges their mobile phones regularly as a common way of doing so could actually lead to batteries wearing down faster than usual.
While many of us like to see the 100% bar in the corner of the screen each morning, charging overnight may not be great for your phone's health. This is according to Ciaran Lee, a mobile gaming expert from Casinos.win, who explained why you should charge a phone to around 80% instead.
He said: "Lithium-ion batteries which are in smartphones are degraded by charging, heat and their age.

"They don't like to be fully charged and by making a few small changes to the way you charge your phone you can help maintain the battery and keep your phone for longer."
Essentially, every time you charge your phone to 100%, you complete a charging cycle and your phone will be designed to carry out a set number of cycles before you have to replace your battery.
To make your battery last as long as possible, you should aim to never allow your device to go below 20%, or above 80%, the Daily Record reports.
Ciaran added: "Checking if your phone is at a certain battery charge is going to become tiresome very fast, instead of checking your phone manually you can set up an automation on newer phones which alerts you when your battery percentage goes below or above a certain level."
Similarly, another mistake that many might unknowingly make is using their device while it's charging, as this could also harm the phone battery. This is because it may become overheated.
