BBC commentary of Leeds United's clash with Brighton has gone ahead despite ongoing chaos over tonight's broadcast of Match of the Day. The latest edition of the flagship highlights show has been plunged into doubt after pundits and commentators boycotted the programme in response to Gary Lineker's suspension.
The longstanding Match of the Day host was withdrawn from presenting duties on Friday after the BBC determined the ex-England striker had 'breached guidelines' over a recent social media post. Lineker found himself at the centre of headlines after describing the government's new Migration Bill as 'beyond awful'.
The BBC's decision has prompted a mass backlash, with Ian Wright and Alan Shearer quickly confirming they would not be appearing on Saturday's show. Commentators due to cover the six Premier League fixtures on Saturday announced a short time later that they would be 'stepping down' from the upcoming broadcast too.

The BBC responded by confirming Match of the Day would still go ahead, but as a standalone highlights package without punditry or commentary. However, the Daily Mail now label Saturday's show as being 'under threat' as the station's bosses discuss whether it can air without commentary.
Commentary from Elland Road for the Whites' clash with Brighton, as well as Crystal Palace's encounter with Manchester City, has gone ahead as scheduled on 5 Live. Javi Gracia's side slipped into the relegation zone shortly ahead of kick-off due to Bournemouth's shock win over Liverpool.
