The Washington Commanders will kick off their top-30 NFL draft visits with Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.
The 6-foot-8, 374-pound Jones measured in with the largest wingspan in the history of the Senior Bowl and the second-largest in the history of the NFL combine at over 87 inches.
Jones is the first known top 30 visit for the Commanders. The former Buckeye will be a busy man over the next six weeks, as Jones is scheduled for visits with seven NFL teams, including Washington.
Ohio State OT Dawand Jones has Top 30 visits scheduled with the following teams, per source.
• Commanders
• Eagles
• Colts
• Steelers
• Browns
• Bengals
• Seahawks— Ryan Fowler (@_RyanFowler_) March 8, 2023
Washington assistant offensive line coach Travelle Wharton saw Jones up close at the Senior Bowl, where Jones had a good week of practice. Then, the Commanders had a formal visit with Jones at the combine.
There is a clear intention to upgrade the offensive line this offseason, and the Commanders are doing their due diligence on some of the top prospects. Jones is a dominant run blocker but still has some work to do in pass protection.
