Comedian Omid Djalili jokes he's been 'held hostage' on plane at Scots airport

Comedian Omid Djalili has joked he is being ‘held hostage’ at Edinburgh Airport after his plane was diverted due to adverse weather. The popular entertainer was forced to cancel his show in Aberdeen on Sunday evening after the unscheduled stop over in the capital.

He had complained about being forced to stand in a 'stuffy tube' for 30 mins to board the easyJet flight to Aberdeen, Edinburgh Live reports. As his journey took a turn for the worse, he tweeted: "Landed in Edinburgh due to low visibility in Aberdeen.

"Now held hostage on the runway as they discuss what to do with us, possibly even refuel and fly on to Aberdeen anyway. Passengers asking me for a show on the plane. Anyone coming to @APAWhatsOn Aberdeen tonight we sadly have to cancel.

"Currently on plane at Edinburgh airport waiting for Aberdeen fog to clear and it won't. Do head to @daraobriain show at His Majesty's Theatre tonight who obviously planned this sabotage from the start."

The comedian and actor shared an update with his fans on Twitter (Twitter)

Fans on social media shared their support for the comedian.

Laurie M wrote: "Sorry. The fog is pretty thick here so it's probably a good shout that they did that tbh. Say hi to my home city? Hope you make it to Aberdeen ok."

Laura added: "I hate to break it to you, but it'll be around 2hr 30 mins on the bus to Aberdeen from Edinburgh. Really hope they can get you back in the air again."

Comedian Dara O Briain tweeted: "Oh, you're having an even worse journey than I did! Do you want to send your crowd over to me and I'll do your stuff for them?"
