Comedian Natasha Leggero sheds shirt during stand-up, makes statement

Natasha Leggero explains why she went shirtless during her stand-up set.

Comedian Natasha Leggero recently made headlines for taking off her shirt during one of her stand-up performances. While some were surprised by her choice, Leggero explained that there was a deeper message behind her actions.

When asked about the incident by a paparazzo, Leggero responded with her signature humor, quipping, 'That I have such huge tits?' However, she went on to explain that most comedians do not typically go shirtless during their acts. She wanted to challenge this norm and send a message to the audience.

Her husband, Moshe Kasher, further added to the intrigue by joking, 'That she's not feeling her husband.' He hinted that there was a bigger story surrounding Leggero's decision.

The inspiration for Leggero's shirtless performance came from fellow comedian Bert Kreischer, who performed shirtless himself at the Hollywood Improv earlier that week. When Kreischer introduced Leggero, she decided to join in the fun and take the stage without her top.

Leggero asked the audience, 'If the boys can do it, why can't the girls?' Her question was met with enthusiastic cheers and applause. Kreischer shouted from the crowd, contemplating the need to start removing his pants during his performances to match Leggero's bold move.

After retrieving her jacket and beginning her set without referencing her shirtless stunt, Leggero later shared a series of photos from the event on social media. Despite being advised not to post about it, she felt compelled to do so since the images had already been leaked to the press.

In her Instagram post, Leggero questioned whether female comedians should be allowed to do the same things as their male counterparts. She added a humorous twist, saying, 'Because I've also been thinking about trying to f--k my opener.'

To emphasize the camaraderie between herself and Kreischer, Leggero posted a second photo with both of them topless on stage, censoring their chests with black bars.

While Leggero's daring act sparked both praise and curiosity, it also provoked a dialogue about gender norms and equality within the comedy world. By challenging the status quo and making a statement with her performance, she invites discussions about the limitations placed on female comedians and the need for more inclusive practices.

Leggero's decision to shed her shirt during her stand-up set may have been unexpected, but it has certainly sparked conversation and encouraged reflection on how comedic performances and gender stereotypes intersect.
