Colts Won’t Trade Jonathan Taylor Prior to Regular Season, per Report

The Colts are keeping Jonathan Taylor on the physically unable to perform list to start the season, a sign that the team will not trade the running back before Week 1, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Indianapolis had to decide by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday whether to trade Taylor or leave him on the PUP list, and according to Rapoport, the Colts didn’t receive an acceptable offer for Taylor. Because Taylor is still recovering from ankle surgery he underwent in the offseason, he will begin the season on the sideline.

With Taylor officially out for at least the first four weeks of the regular season, the star tailback will miss games against the Jaguars, Texans, Ravens and Rams to start the season. He will be eligible to return to action in Week 5 against the Titans.

Taylor requested a trade from the Colts last month after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension. The running back is entering the final year of his rookie contract and could hit free agency next offseason.
