The Indianapolis Colts are scheduled to host UAB cornerback Starling Thomas V on a visit ahead of the 2023 NFL draft, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
It’s no secret the Colts need to add to the cornerback position through the draft at the end of April, especially after trading starter Stephon Gilmore to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth-round pick.
A standout at the East-West Shrine Bowl, it seems Thomas’ stock is on the rise.
UAB corner Starling Thomas V will be busy during pre-draft process, visiting seven teams including #Chargers #Colts and #Vikings. Intriguing Day 3 prospect ran 4.28 40 and had standout moments at East-West Shrine Bowl week.

It isn’t clear if this is a top-30 visit or a private workout. There’s a slight difference, but they both carry relative significance.
At his pro day this week, Thomas posted some intriguing numbers. At 6-foot and 195 pounds, Thomas posted a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash and a 37.5-inch vertical jump.
It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if the Colts double-dipped at the cornerback position in both free agency and the draft. They could even afford to add a cornerback from free agency and spend two of their picks at the position in the draft. It’s that big of a need.
Thomas is certainly more of a developmental prospect for the Colts than he would be a Week 1 starter right out of the gate, but that type of athleticism is going to intrigue the front office.
If his visit goes well enough with the team, he may hear his name called on Day 3 by the Colts.
