During a nasty collision with teammate Zaire Franklin in the Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts star linebacker Shaquille Leonard sustained a broken nose on top of the concussion that knocked him out of the game.
Leonard has already been ruled out for the Thursday night matchup against the Denver Broncos due to the concussion and the short turnaround, and head coach Frank Reich told the media Tuesday that Leonard also is dealing with a broken nose.
“He definitely has a fracture there as well,” Reich said of Leonard’s nose. “We need to do some further testing on that to see. We’ll have to wait for the swelling to go down to get a more accurate feel for if that’s going to come into play.”
It has been a rough year for The Maniac. After not participating in the offseason workouts, then having back surgery and missing the first three games, Leonard could be out for more than just the Thursday night game.
Leonard came into the Week 3 game to play 16 total snaps and while he was going to be on a pitch count, it still hurts the defense to not have its most electric defender on the field.
It’s likely a waiting game to see how long Leonard will be out with the concussion and the broken nose, but all eyes will be on a potential return for the Week 6 rematch against the Houston Texans.
