The Indianapolis Colts ruled out three players Friday ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Those three players include cornerback Julius Brents (quad), right tackle Braden Smith (hip/wrist) and tight end Kylen Granson (concussion).
Brents was not expected to play this week after suffering a quad injury during the Week 8 loss against the Cleveland Browns. In his place, fellow rookie Jaylon Jones will likely get the start while Darrell Baker Jr. also should see an uptick in snaps.
It also wouldn’t be a surprise if Ameer Speed made his Colts debut after he was claimed off waivers last week.
Smith will miss his third consecutive game due to a hip injury he suffered during the Thursday practice before the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He hasn’t practiced since the injury. It will be rookie Blake Freeland making his third consecutive start right right tackle and his fifth consecutive start overall.
Granson will miss his second consecutive game due to a concussion, but he was seen wearing the red non-contact jersey at Friday’s practice, which suggests he’s making progress through the concussion protocol.
The Colts will release the full injury report with designations later Friday afternoon.
