Colts reportedly releasing DE Levi Bell as part of roster cutdowns

Another Colts’ roster cut has been reported, with the team releasing defensive end Levi Bell, according to Aaron Wilson.

Initial 53-man rosters have to be set by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 27th.

Bell was a late training camp addition to the Colts roster, signed following Samson Ebukam’s Achilles injury to help bolster the team’s defensive end depth in his absence.

Bell would appear in all three preseason games, playing 58 defensive snaps, which included forcing two pressures and five tackles. He would play nine special teams snaps as well.

Bell measures in at 6-1 – 275 pounds. He went undrafted in 2023 out of Texas State and is an elite athlete, posting a Relative Athletic Score of 9.55 out of 10. This included running a 4.59-second 40-yard dash.

He was originally signed by Baltimore last Spring but was released and ultimately caught on with the Seattle Seahawks for the 2023 preseason before being released.

While primarily playing defensive in college, Bell did see a few fullback snaps at Texas State and with the Seahawks. In Spring of 2024, Bell played in the UFL with the Michigan Panthers.

Joel Erickson of the Indy Star would report that Bell returning to the Colts’ practice squad is a possibility.

So far, 11 roster cuts have been reported for the Colts.
