Colts RB Jonathan Taylor will not practice Thursday ahead of game vs. Jaguars

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor told reporters that he would not be participating in Thursday’s practice.

Taylor exited the Colts’ Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth quarter with what has been reported as a high ankle sprain. For more on what Ian Rapoport had to say a few days ago, click here.

Taylor also did not practice on Wednesday.

Some good news is that Taylor told the media that this ankle sprain isn’t as serious as the one he dealt with during the 2022 season. That year, the ankle injury lingered, forcing Taylor in and out of the lineup.

According to the Indy Star’s Joel Erickson, although Taylor wasn’t going to practice on Thursday, he was going to do some things to get a gauge on where he’s at.

Through four games, Taylor has been one of the most productive running backs in football, ranking fifth in total rushing yards while averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

It is also Taylor and the run game that makes this Colts’ offense go. While the passing game has been able to generate a number of explosive plays, it is the run game that provides some stability to this unit and can be a quarterback’s best friend by keeping the offense ahead of the sticks, along with opening up opportunities in the passing game.

This week the Colts will face the 0-4 Jaguars, who are allowing 27.3 points per game, but have held their own against the run, surrendering just 3.9 yards per attempt.
