Colts QB Anthony Richardson suffers shoulder injury in Week 5

With a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars a week away, the Indianapolis Colts are currently without their starting quarterback Anthony Richardson.

The fourth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft suffered a shoulder injury Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. While X-rays reportedly came back negative, it didn’t take long for the Colts to rule out the quarterback for the remainder of the day.

If Richardson is unavailable in Week 6, it’d be former Jaguars starter Gardner Minshew II in line to start at EverBank Stadium against the team that drafted him.

Jacksonville got a 31-21 win in Indianapolis in their season opener last month. Richardson got the start in that game and finished with 223 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also added 40 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Minshew has now thrown passes in four of the Colts’ five games this year and started one game this season after Richardson previously dealt with a concussion. Through the first four weeks, Minshew had 398 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
