What do NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, former No. 1 pick Joe Burrow and long snapper Luke Rhodes have in common?
They’re all the highest-paid players at their respective positions in the NFL.
The Colts signed Rhodes, 30, to a record-setting contract extension Friday, the team announced. The deal is worth up to $6.465 million over the next four years, making Rhodes the new highest-paid long snapper in the league, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Rhodes, the Colts’ second-longest tenured player, behind center Ryan Kelly, will earn $2.5 million guaranteed along with a $1.1 signing bonus.

Now that might seem like a hefty payday for an NFL long snapper, but if Bill Belichick’s 10-minute lesson about the importance of the position wasn’t enough to convince fans, Rhodes’s résumé should be.
Since joining the Colts in 2016 after going undrafted out of William & Mary, Rhodes has played in 101 games for Indianapolis. He’s missed just one game since his pro debut seven years ago and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2021, along with a second-team nod in ’20.
