Colts injury news: 7 players on Week 4 Thursday injury report

Following Thursday’s practice, the Indianapolis Colts released their second injury report of the week ahead of the team’s matchup versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seven players, including several defenders, were listed.

As was the case on Wednesday, cornerback Kenny Moore and defensive end Kwity Paye did not participate. Moore with a hip injury and Paye with a quad injury, both exited this past Sunday’s game late.

Head coach Shane Steichen mentioned on Wednesday that they would see how each player progresses throughout the week before making a decision.

Also of note, Tyquan Lewis went from being a full participant on Wednesday to not practicing on Thursday. He, along with Paye, played an important part in the Colts’ success against the run against the Bears, with their ability to set the edge and keep the Chicago Ball carriers inside.

Next up on the schedule for the Colts defense is a matchup against a very-run heavy Pittsburgh Steelers offense. Can the Colts find a way to replicate last week’s success?

Chris Lammons still did not practice either, leaving the Colts even more thin at cornerback. Healthy cornerbacks on the 53-man roster at this time include Sam Womack, Dallis Flowers, and Jaylon Jones.

Some good news was that offensive tackle Braden Smith was back on the field after missing Wednesday’s practice. For more on Smith’s return, click here. Linebacker Grant Stuard also was a full participant once again.

A new addition to the injury report, however, was center Ryan Kelly with a neck injury. He did not practice. As of this time, no further information has been provided.

The Colts’ offense seemed to establish its blueprint for success on offense against the Chicago Bears with a heavy-dose of Jonathan Taylor and Anthony Richardson in the run game.

Indianapolis’ offensive line has been one of the best in football by just about every metric, but that unit faces a difficult test against a very good Steelers defensive front.
