The Indianapolis Colts reportedly have given star running back Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade, according to multiple reports Monday.
Even though Taylor is currently on the PUP list rehabbing an ankle injury, there are questions as to whether his desire for a new contract is the reason he’s still on the list.
Taylor requested a trade at the beginning of training camp and even though the Colts have said they have no plans to trade him, something has changed.

Taylor has been seeking a deal to make him one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL. That’s a tall ask considering the running back market and the way teams view the value of the position.
This could be a move by the Colts to let Taylor see what his true value really is. If they find no viable trade offers, it may work in favor for the Colts. However, it’s unclear how many teams are willing to part with high draft capital only to turn around and give Taylor a brand new contract.
We’ll see if anything comes from this as there’s a bigger chance Taylor has played his last game for the Colts.
