Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Jordan Love avoided major injury, but his status for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts seems to be in jeopardy.
On the second to last play of the Packers’ season opener against Philadelphia, Love suffered a knee injury. The good news that was reported on Saturday was that Love avoided damage to his ACL. He instead suffered an MCL sprain.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the injury will keep Love sidelined for 3-6 weeks, although Pelissero adds that Love could return sooner.
The Colts still have to play their Week 1 matchup with the Houston Texans, but next Sunday, they will be traveling to Green Bay to take on the Packers.
Without Love, former Tennessee Titans quarterback–who the team acquired via trade less than two weeks ago–is the Packers’ backup. Green Bay also has second-year quarterback Sean Clifford on the practice squad.
Obviously, the dynamic at quarterback changes greatly for the Packers without Love, but that is still an offense filled with playmakers, including 5-6 receivers they feel very comfortable giving the ball to, Josh Jacobs at running back, and two tight ends they are very confident in as well.
In the Packers’ loss to the Eagles, Green Bay’s running backs rushed for 130 yards on 20 carries, while Jayden Reed went for 138 yards.
The Colts’ focus for now will remain on the Texans, but what the Packers do at quarterback will be worth watching as the upcoming week unfolds.
