Colts CB JuJu Brents questionable for Week 16 vs Titans

The Indianapolis Colts are officially listing cornerback JuJu Brents as questionable for their Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

After being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury following the Colts’ season opener against Houston, Brents returned to practice for the first time since then on Wednesday of this week when he was designated to return from injured reserve.

Brents was a limited participant each day this week, and although listed as questionable, it does sound like it will be a long shot that he will be out there on Sunday.

It’s “going to be tough” for Brents this week, said Shane Steichen on Friday.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given that he hasn’t practiced, let alone played a game in over three months. In all likelihood, a ramp-up period is still going to be required.

“It is what it is,” said Brents on the time he’s missed in his career. “I understand it. I mean, I haven’t been available for the team. But I just know for me, I’m doing everything in my ability to be able to be out there.”

Brents is still technically on IR, even though he’s been desigated to return. The team has up to 21 days to activate Brents and add him back to the 53-man roster.

If Brents can return at some point before the season ends, it will be interesting to see how the Colts divide playing time at cornerback. Brents, who has dealt with injuries in his young career, very much needs the reps like any young player, but the combination of Jaylon Jones and Samuel Womack has provided some stability to the position.
