The Arizona Cardinals will start the offseason without a healthy starting quarterback in Kyler Murray. He, in a best-case scenario, will be back for the start of the season.
However, the Cardinals have two quarterbacks out to start the offseason.
Not only is Murray coming back from a torn ACL, backup Colt McCoy is coming back from an injury.
According to AZCardinals.com’s Darren Urban, owner Michael Bidwill, appearing on the Dave Pasch Podcast, revealed that McCoy will be limited as the offseason begins,.
“Colt is coming back from an injury that is going to limit him in the offseason,” Bidwill said. “It’s another set of dynamics that (offensive coordinator) Drew (Petzing) and JG (head coach Jonathan Gannon) have to work through, and (general manager) Monti (Ossenfort).”
McCoy had a concussion late in the season and, after coming out of league protocols, had more symptoms, keeping him out of the season finale.
He also had a neck injury in Week 14 before he suffered the concussion.
He started the season on injured reserve with a calf injury.
It means the Cardinals will need to bring in a couple of quarterbacks to start the offseason.
This is not how you want things to start for the team and the new coaching staff.
