A 5k run with a difference will be making a return to Newcastle this summer and bringing with it a welcome blast of colour.
The Color Obstacle Rush 5K is an event which combines an obstacle course, music and - most importantly - an array of coloured powders which runners can throw with abandon to brighten up the atmosphere.
It will take place at Newcastle Racecourse on June 11 and entry tickets are on sale now, with discounts currently available for those who sign up by midnight on March 3.

Described as the"funniest run on Earth", the event combines "the fun of colour powdered runs, the thrill of an obstacle course and the atmosphere of a music festival", say organisers.
Those who enter will receive a T-shirt and pack of colour powder - with ingredients approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) - in readiness for the action.
The Newcastle event will begin with a warm-up, when there will be the chance of an early "colour shower" to set the mood.
There will be staggered start times and the 5k course will take in 20 obstacles, including inflatables and slides, as well as six colour stations en route to add extra layers of colour and foam to contend with too.
A spokesman said: "There will be a bunch of new inflatables to slide, bounce, tumble and get tangled up in; some space hopper racing, foam and plenty of other surprises we don’t want to give out just yet."
The inflatable obstacles are designed for adults so might prove challenging for children but the event is open to those aged 12 and above.
Adding to the party atmosphere there will be 20 music stations and a post-run Color Festival will wrap up the action at the finish line.
Obstacle Rush is not a charity event but some runners do use it to raise money for a good cause of their choice.
Those taking part can expect to get messy so should wear old clothes - and light-colour ones will show up the colour powder better - while some may choose to wear hair coverings or goggles.
The run will still go ahead if the weather turns out to be less than summery, with organisers saying: "We'll be dancing in the rain!"
Tickets cost £39.90 and then the price will rise to £44.90 from midnight on March 3, then to £49.90 on April 14.
There is currently also a group discount available of 10% off when buying four tickets or more. See here.
