Most college football fans can’t relate to being an elite athlete who makes dazzling plays in front of thousands of fans on fall Saturdays.
However, Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter has been dealing with an issue to which plenty of students and fans can relate. He’s getting too many parking tickets on campus.
Hunter expressed his frustrations during a video clip which featured the Buffaloes’ preparations for their Week 10 matchup with Oregon State.
“I need everybody at Colorado to see this, bro. I’m tired of paying for parking,” Hunter said. “Can somebody help me? Pay eight dollars for two hours. How is that even possible?”
Hunter added that he’s received a number of parking tickets on campus, although authorities apparently haven’t put a boot on his front tire because he drives a big truck.
Some might question how a star football player can’t avoid parking tickets. Couldn’t the football program just issue permits for everyone on the roster?
But Colorado’s parking services department seems to be an equal opportunity enforcer. Even coach Deion Sanders has been ticketed for a parking violation near Folsom Field. Maybe his Lamborghini was an easy target.
Hunter recalled one week earlier in the season when he said he was ticketed every day. He also claimed to receive a ticket despite paying for entry into a parking garage. Deion Sanders Jr., who filmed the video, added that he was ticketed on an early Sunday morning while parked for only 30 minutes.
Perhaps a booster will help out with Hunter’s parking fees. Or after making an on-camera plea, maybe the Colorado Parking Services department will work something out with the football program and issue permits for the players. However, that might constitute an extra benefit that needs to be run by the NCAA compliance office.
