Colorado's Medicaid agency has moved to end its agreement with FreedomCare, an in-home care company whose Medicaid payments rose from about $1 million last year to nearly $22 million so far this year. The state ordered the company to stop taking new clients immediately and to stop serving current clients by Nov. 15, according to The Colorado Sun.
The company sends caregivers to the homes of more than 700 Colorado Medicaid members in 17 counties, many of them older adults and people with disabilities, according to Colorado Public Radio. The caregivers help with daily tasks such as preparing meals, washing dishes, doing laundry, and getting in and out of bed.
