The Penguin is set to make a grand return in the upcoming Max series, with Colin Farrell reprising his role in the new trailer. The series is a spin-off from the 2022 DC film The Batman, where The Penguin was depicted as a loyal lieutenant to crime boss Carmine Falcone, who meets an unfortunate demise. Now, The Penguin is poised to take the reins of crime in Gotham City, promising viewers a thrilling narrative reminiscent of DC's The Sopranos.

The series is a creation of DC Studios, a division of Warner Bros. overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are actively building a shared universe of movies and TV shows. Notably, both The Batman and The Penguin exist in a separate universe under the Elseworlds banner, paying homage to the alternate universe stories in DC Comics.

The ensemble cast features Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen. The show's executive producers include The Batman director Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, showrunner Lauren LeFranc, director Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro.

The highly-anticipated series is scheduled to premiere this fall, offering fans a glimpse into the expanding world of The Batman. In related news, The Batman Part II, starring Robert Pattinson, has faced a one-year delay and is now slated for release in October 2026, leaving audiences eager for more adventures from Reeves' captivating Batman universe.
