Colin Farrell has scooped the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival tonight for his role in Martin McDonagh's film The Banshees of Inisherin.
The dark-comedy also stars Brendan Gleeson and is set on a remote island in the west of Ireland. The pair's characters are two friends who fall out inexplicably while the Civil War rages on.
Accepting his Best Actor award in a video message, Farrell said he was "utterly shocked and thrilled". The Dubliner also paid tribute to his "dear friend", writer-director Martin McDonagh and said he shared the award with another great friend, his co-star Gleeson. Farrell also gave a shout out to the rest of the cast and crew.
