Dublin born actors Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are among the Irish stars to make this year's BAFTA awards nominations list with their film The Banshees of Inisherin.
The dark comedy about friends in 1920s Ireland has received 14 nominations in total, with Farrell nominated for leading actor and Gleeson for best supporting actor. The Banshees of Inisherin also has nominations for best film, best director, best supporting actress for Kerry Condon, Outstanding British film, original screenplay, casting, cinematography, costume design, editing, original score, and production design.
Director Martin McDonagh's Banshees of Inisherin follows the story of best friends Padraic (Farrell) and Colm (Gleeson), and the period piece set on an island off the west coast of Ireland has already been nominated for an impressive eight Golden Globes awards.

The pair previously worked together worded with Martin McDonagh on other projects including the much-loved In Bruge. Castleknock native Colin Farrell also recently won the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the 34th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in California.
Other Irish stars also making it onto the BAFTAS nominations list is Kildare star Paul Mescal, who has received a nod for leading actor in the period piece Aftersun.
The film also has received a total of eight nominations, which includes nods for leading actor for Mescal, best film, best director, original screenplay, casting, editing, Outstanding British film, and Outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer. Netflix's WWI epic All Quiet On The Western Front is leading the BAFTA nominations this year with a total of 15 nominations.
