The injury history for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was always going to spark some discussion, especially during offseason.
One good example recently popped up on The Herd, with host Colin Cowherd likening Burrow to NBA star Joel Embiid.
Cowherd received some pushback on the idea because Embiid’s 7’0″ frame seems to make him injury prone, but the host cited the nature of the quarterback position as part of the reason for his comparison.
“That’s part of his narrative now,” Cowherd said. “He’s hurt a lot. It’s like Joel Emiid. He’s a quarterback…they’re not super athletic, they get blindsided. You can’t talk about Burrow without the injuries. It’s part of it now.”
While the injuries are indeed part of the story with Burrow right now, there’s some understandable hope that the unrelated serious setbacks aren’t the sign of a trend. The knee occurred when someone fell on him and the calf (which eventually seemed to lead to the wrist) was seemingly part of training decisions Burrow has repeatedly said he’s changing up this summer.
Fun debate here, as @colincowherd likened Joe Burrow to Joel Embiid because of the questions about his health, which I felt was unfair.
