Coleen Rooney speaks about husband Wayne’s cheating in Vogue shoot

Coleen Rooney has spoken about her husband Wayne’s alleged infidelity in her interview with Vogue.

The WAG has spoken candidly about the highs and lows of her marriage to the footballer in her September issue interview with the fashion bible - admitting at times it has been a “battle”.

The couple met as teenagers at school in Liverpool. They have been married since 2008 and share four sons together.

The school sweethearts have been dogged by reports of the footballer’s infidelity during his football career - and Rooney has only spoken about the claims publicly on a handful of occasions.

Speaking about her marriage, Rooney said: “It’s been a battle at times. I look at [any] situation we’re in and think, ‘Could we move forward from that? Is it worth moving forward from that?’ I don’t just give up.”

Speaking specifically about cheating claims, Rooney said: “We’ve never backed away from it.

“We own it. I remember having a conversation about this with someone and I said: ‘’Well, do you know what your wife gets up to every day and night? At least I know what my husband’s doing!’ It mightn’t be good, but I know. People lie to themselves.”

The pair, who are both 37, grew up on Liverpool’s Croxteth estate. They first met aged 12, and began dating at 16.

Six years later they wed in Italy and now share sons Kai, 13, Klay, 10, Kit, seven, and Cass, five.

Allegations of Rooney’s cheating go back to 2004 when he was accused of sleeping with a prostitute when he was 18.

He is reported to have slept with two other prostitutes at a brothel in Liverpool around the same time.

Later in 2010, it was alleged that Rooney had again paid for sex when his wife was pregnant with their first son.

Between 2017 and 2020 various other claims emerged of Rooney partying with women.

Last year, Rooney explained in an Amazon Prime documentary about her husband’s career she’d learnt to block out people’s opinions on their marriage while discussing his reported affairs for the first time.

In the Vogue interview, the WAG said the “Wagatha Christie” trial almost broke their marriage once and for all suggesting her husband was: “Hurt, short-tempered and he didn’t think she was the same person anymore,” after she went public with her claims against Rebekah Vardy.

Vardy sued Rooney after the latter accused the WAG of leaking details of her private life to the press. Vardy lost her libel case against Rooney in July 2022 - but to this day insists she was not behind the leaks.
