Coleen Rooney's verdict on moving to America ahead of Wayne's new career move

Coleen Rooney has issued her verdict on moving to America ahead of her husband's next career move.

Wayne Rooney has agreed to return to DC United as the club's new head coach. The former Everton FC striker first joined the Major League Soccer side in 2018.

The 36-year-old spent 18 months at the club before he returned to the UK to join Derby County. Rooney guided the Rams through a turbulent period in their history, but stood down last month after a takeover bid from Chris Kirchner fell through.

Rooney is now set to return stateside and is expected to be unveiled as the DC United's new boss later today. There were rumours Coleen and their four children would be remaining in the UK when Rooney first joined the Washington based side.

However, Coleen refuted the claims with a tweet in July 2018. She said: "Wishing our Daddy and my Wayne all the luck, happiness and success in America!!! It’s a move we are going to do as a family."

However, it is unclear whether she will be making the move again this time around. Coleen's texts with Rebekah Vardy were released during the high-profile Wagatha Christie libel trial.

The two were friends back in 2018 when Coleen said she found her time in America tough. She said: "Hiya, hope your all week [well]. We’re ok thanks its tough being on your own though."

She added: "Washington isn’t the best....nice to visit but different to live. Not loads for the kids to do, mostly park, hardly any soft plays and things like that. It’s quite behind the UK, which I never would have though. But we will get used to it (I hope).

"Wayne is loving it, and the kids are fine, settled into school straight away. So really happy they are fine. Thanks for the message love xx."

Rebekah replied: "Ahh no worries hun!! I bet it’s been tough! It’s hard adapting to something completely new let alone in another country! "Im really surprised they are a bit behind! I always thought America was spot on. Saw Wayne was doing fab! His last goal omg was just amazing!"

She continued: "Glad the kids are settled.... at least that’s one less thing u have to worry about! I’m sure Christmas will be amazing over there with all the snow... good luck driving."
