Coleen Rooney has opened up about suffering a miscarriage while detailing why she stood by husband Wayne through various cheating claims.
The wife of former England captain Wayne Rooney, 38, is about to release her autobiography, My Account, following the success of her three-part Disney+ documentary, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story.
The series followed the dramatic court case that ensued after Rooney alleged that Rebekah Vardy, the wife of Leicester City player Jamie Vardy, had been leaking stories to The Sun. Vardy then sued Rooney for libel.
Last summer, a high court judge deemed Rooney's social media post claiming Vardy was behind the leaks to be “substantially true”, meaning Rooney's claims were vindicated.
In 37-year-old Rooney’s new book, she details the case as well as other personal elements of her life with one of England’s best-ever strikers, who she started dating as a teenager.
In a new interview with the Mail on Sunday to promote the book, the star details for the first time how she had a miscarriage at 10 weeks during her first pregnancy.
She says it was a: “A horrible experience that knocked Wayne for six, too.”
The couple went on to have four sons - Kai, 13, Klay, 10, Kit, seven, and Cass, five.
The Liverpudlian star also speaks about how Rooney has been hit with various allegations of cheating over the years, including visiting prostitutes.
She said that she stuck by the star footballer because they have always “loved” each other - adding it is no one else's business what happens behind closed doors .
“People have asked other people [why I stayed with Wayne], but not many people have personally asked me," she said. "There has been unfortunate stuff we've had to go through, and our families have had to cope with – it's been hard at times for them, too. My circle has helped me get through them [tough] times.
“It's my decision whatever line I want to go down. I like to think I'm strong enough to say, 'Enough's enough,' or, 'Let's continue and go forward with this.”
In her memoir about their at times rocky marriage, she writes: “Wayne's a great dad,” adding: “Every time he's gone off the rails, it's been a stupid, drunken, spur-of-the-moment thing. [...] If there's something to work at, if the love's still there, why would you throw that away?”
Last month, Rooney said she was expecting an “emotional” night as she gathered with friends and family for a screening of her Wagatha documentary.
Rooney was accompanied by her husband Wayne and eldest son Kai for the screening at the Everyman cinema in Liverpool on Wednesday.
Rooney’s parents Colette and Tony McLoughlin and other family members attended the screening along with footballers including Phil Jones and Jordan Pickford.
Rooney said: “I’m so excited. I think it will be emotional because there are some emotional things in there.
“Obviously I’ve watched it so I think I will be a bit nervous of what’s going on around me and their thoughts on it but hopefully they all enjoy it.”
