Coldplay's Chris Martin stuns commuters on train from Manchester to Cardiff

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin stunned commuters by apparently taking the TRAIN from Manchester to Cardiff ready for the next gigs on his band's huge world tour. The band played four huge shows at Manchester's Etihad Stadium last week, and tonight perform at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

Coldplay are known for their green credentials, and have proudly planted one tree for every one of the 5 million people who have bought tickets for their ongoing tour. They also encourage their fans to use public transport wherever possible to get to their gigs.

So clearly Chris practices what he preaches - although his appearance on the platform at Cardiff Central still left several onlookers gobsmacked, according to Wales Online. He was filmed apparently arriving at the station on Monday on a Transport for Wales train from Manchester, after the band's massive Sunday night gig at the Etihad Stadium.

A video widely shared on social media shows a train station staff member filming the train's arrival, as Chris appears in the background of the shot. He then rushes over to beam into the man's camera phone.

It left the man stunned and saying: "Wow... Thanks Chris, wow."

The chart-topping band are performing in Cardiff for two sell-out nights this week as part of their ongoing Music of the Spheres world tour.

Last week they took over the Etihad Stadium in Manchester with a riot of colour and confetti as they performed to some 240,000 music fans over four nights.

In the video, he was captured mingling with other commuters and when he clocked a member of staff filming on the platform, he came over to say hello as he arrived in the city.

Fans have been quick to praise his low-key entrance. One said: "Brilliant entrance by Chris love it!"

Another simply said: "The best."

The band will be taking to the stage at the Principality Stadium tonight (June 6) and Wednesday, June 7, performing in front of thousands of fans in the Welsh capital.

Coldplay released a statement last week with an update on their sustainability initiatives. They revealed that their current tour has so far produced 47% less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17, and that 5 million trees have already been planted (one for each concert goer).

The band’s efforts have been assessed and validated by Professor John E. Fernandez of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Environmental Solutions Initiative, who said: “We fully endorse this effort as critically important, scientifically rigorous and of the highest quality.”
