A cold snap is expected to kick in next week with one weather expert warning the public to check their heating supplies.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said current forecasts mean much colder air is likely to hit Ireland from the weekend and into next week. He warned that now is a good time to check heating suplies before the cold spell hits.
He said: "Latest charts rolling out now and they continue to an unusual setup with high pressure to the North and low pressure to the South feeding down much cooler air from the Northeast. This has potential to bring us some much colder air from the weekend into next week.
