Colby Covington issues violent death threat to UFC commentator Jon Anik

Colby Covington has told Jon Anik to "shut his f****ng" mouth whilst issuing a death threat to the UFC commentator.

UFC bad boy Covington took issue to comments Anik made about his welterweight rival Belal Muhammad following news that 'Chaos' will be next in line for a title shot against Leon Edwards after his UFC 286 win against Kamaru Usman. Anik pointed out Muhammad is on a nine fight unbeaten streak that dates back to 2019, seemingly making him worthy for a title shot then Covington who has lost two of his last four fights.

Muhammad angered Covington by stating the only reason UFC boss Dana White gifted him a title shot is because "he's white". Muhammad would go on to delete the tweet but Covington has since called for him to be "kicked out" of the UFC, also criticising Anik for defending the fighter.

''You're not talking Belal, you're talking the racist," Covington told MMAFighting. "That guy is so beyond racist, like, everything he does is racist, the guy's a freaking joke. He's saying I'm in this position because of my skin colour, because I'm white? That's clear racism. You know who's hanging out and associating with that racist? Jon Anik.

"Jon Anik supports that racism. He's supposed to be impartial, he's supposed to have that headset, he's supposed to be an interviewer, he's supposed to remain impartial. You want to be a cheerleader? Put down the headset, pick up the pom-poms, go on the side, and be a cheerleader."

Covington then claimed that Anik was being two-faced by being name to him in London last week for UFC 286, going on to state: "You wanted to lick my f***ing balls in London, 'Oh Colby this', but then you wanna go back behind the stage and cheerlead for a racist. I don't want your kids to grow up without a dad, just realise you live in Boca [Raton], I live in Miami motherf***er, you're not too far from me, so you better shut your f***ing mouth. You poke the bear, now you get the bear comes after you."

Anik, who hosts a podcast with Muhammad, is yet to respond to the comments but fans and fighters have since criticised Covington for going a step too far. Covington's former friend turned rival Jorge Masvidal wrote: "You don’t live in Miami b***ch, whole world know that" whilst Muhammad wrote: "Jon’s my brother I promise you he’s getting slapped just for disrespecting family."
