Coffee Prices Slide as the Dollar Strengthens

May arabica coffee (KCK25) today is down -4.50 (-1.15%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK25) is unchanged.

Coffee prices today are mostly lower.  Today's rally in the dollar index (DXY00) to a 2-week high is undercutting most commodity prices, including coffee.  However, loses in robusta coffee are limited on crop concerns in Vietnam after the Dak Lak weather office said today that Vietnam's main coffee-producing region, Central Highlands, is expected to get more hot weather and less rainfall for the March 21-31 period.  Vietnam is the world's largest producer of robusta coffee beans.
