May arabica coffee (KCK25) Friday closed down -0.55 (-0.15%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK25) closed down -46 (-0.86%).
Coffee prices Friday gave up early gains and turned lower after the Brazilian real (^USDBRL) tumbled to a 1-month low against the dollar. Weakness in the real this week has sparked long liquidation in coffee futures and knocked coffee prices down to 1-months on Wednesday. The weaker real encourages export selling by Brazil's coffee producers.
