A motorist who was pulled over by the police had so much cocaine in his system that he gave a reading 16 times over the drug driving limit.
Alexander Rice, 58, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £350 when he admitted two charges at Dundee Sheriff Court. Rice, Eden Terrace, Dundee, was pulled over by officers after they were attracted by the manner of his driving in the city's Victoria Road on 23 April.
Fiscal depute Emma Farmer told the court : "It was 5.20 pm when police were drawn to his vehicle. They stopped it and spoke to the accused who appeared to be under the influence. He said he was tired. A drug test was positive for cocaine and a blood sample was taken."
Rice admitted having 83 microgrammes of cocaine in his system, when the limit is 10. He admitted having 800 mics of cocaine metabolite Benzoylecgonine when the limit is 50 mics per litre of blood.
Solicitor Billy Watt, defending, told the court: "He is extremely embarrassed about the offence. He has COPD. It was his mobility car and his means of getting around.
"The readings seem extremely high. It was an isolated incident and he is quite ashamed of it. He appreciates he should not have got in the car."
