Coca-Cola's Christmas truck in London: Where and when to catch the famed HGV

The famed Coca-Cola trucks hit the capital this Christmas - (Press handout)

Each year the whispered chant of “holidays are coming” starts the firing gun on the festive season. For many who grew up with the original TV advert, Christmas hasn’t begun until the Coca-Cola trucks have rolled onto our screens.

While a recent AI-generated recreation of that famed 1995 commercial has angered many, the real life Coca-Cola trucks will be hitting the streets of the capital later this week.

The Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour — to give it its full name — will arrive in London on November 21 at the Truman Brewery from 2pm to 9.30pm.

The event will take over the main Ely’s Yard space, with a gospel choir, DJs till late and a surprise live performance from what the brand describes as a “chart-topping artist”.

This year, the tour of the festive Coca-Cola trucks will support FareShare, one of the UK’s biggest charities fighting hunger and food waste.

For every person who attends the Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour, the equivalent of one meal will be donated on their behalf. Coca-Cola states it “aims to donate the equivalent of up to 1 million meals via FareShare this festive season”.

Kirsty Ford, head of fundraising at FareShare said “We are so grateful to Coca-Cola for their continued support for FareShare. These invaluable donations help us get good-to-eat food to the people who need it rather than going to waste. Every day, the food we redistribute to a network of over 8,000 charities in every region helps to strengthen communities.”

Florence Wheatley, marketing manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain noted “This year, we’re delighted to continue our relationship with FareShare to support its mission to reduce hunger and surplus food waste. We hope that every person that attends the Truck Tour...supports FareShare, knowing that the equivalent of a meal has been donated on their behalf.”

The Coca-Cola tour will continue across the UK throughout November and into December, with details of the tour set to be announced in due course.
