Video footage filmed by local residents shows the moment a power box in a Coatbridge exploded.
The Daily Record reports that the electrical appliance on Culzean Avenue in the Lanarkshire town erupted at around 7.55pm on Thursday, with a number of loud bangs and pops heard throughout the street. Orange and red sparks can be seen flying from the box, as huge clouds of dark smoke spread into the sky.
Stunned locals captured videos of the incident, which could be seen from streets away. Residents also reported a power cut shortly after the explosion, as well as a stretch of road closed for some time to allow emergency services to investigate.
