DL Arik Armstead needs surgery, played through torn meniscus
Armstead missed the final five games of the regular season with foot and knee injuries but returned for the postseason. He revealed he will need offseason knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus he played through. He will be ready by training camp.
Coaching changes
The 49ers fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Two other assistants left for other teams.
Klin Kubiak, the Niners’ passing game specialist, is now offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. Anthony Lynn, assistant head coach for the Niners, left to join the Washington Commanders as run-game coordinator and running backs coach.
Team awards announced
The 49ers announced player awards for their team.
Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Javon Kinlaw, Fred Warner and Ja’Yir Brown were among the honorees.
Assistant OL coach added
The Niners added former Raiders assistant Cameron Clemmons to be their new assistant offensive line coach.
