GREATER NOIDA: As the one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand was called off without a ball being bowled – and not even the toss taking place – there were some stern words from the head coaches Jonathon Trott (Afghanistan) and Gary Stead (New Zealand) at the “post-abandonment” press conference on Friday.
A combination of inclement weather, sub-par drainage, lack of trained and adequate ground staff, and insufficient equipment to handle contingency situations led to the two teams mostly spending time at their respective hotels during the duration of the Test.
