Coach John Kavanagh shares hilarious story from man who stormed into Straight Blast Gym proposing a fight

Coach John Kavanagh took to social media to tell his followers of how a 'big guy' had walked into his gym offering to fight him.

Kavanagh owns and runs Straight Blast Gym and the premises is home to a mixed martial arts academy and professional team; with Conor McGregor the most notable product of a gym which has produced multiple MMA stars.

He remains thoroughly involved at the gym, and just yesterday he was accosted by a man who entered the gym looking for a fight with him - the motive for which turned out to be hilarious.

Taking to his Facebook page, Kavanagh explained the encounter.

He said: "I had a big guy burst into my gym yesterday.

"Stormed past reception and made a line for me on the mats.

"Now this is during my busy MMA class where +50 of the most dangerous fighters in Ireland are training."

Kavanagh smelled a rat initially, and explained how he braced himself for the worst.

He continued: "I somewhat readied myself and said what's up?"

And the aggressor made clear his intentions, bellowing:" I WANT TO FIGHT YOU!!!"

Kavanagh continued: "I asked him why."

The man in question responded: "YOU KNOW WHO I AM!!

"I assured him I didn't," Kavanagh clarified.

It was at this moment the man in question clarified that his reason for wanting a fight was that Kavanagh had refused him entry from a pub two decades ago.

He said: "YOU REFUSED ME AND MY BROTHER FROM TURKS HEAD!!"

Kavanagh described his disbelief at the protracted nature of the grievance, saying: "It took me a minute...."so you want to fight me [sic] coz I refused yous from a pub I worked at TWENTY YEARS AGO??"

"Talk about holding a grudge," he quipped as he concluded the post.

With aggression and confidence in spades, he might just be Straight Blast Gym's latest recruit.
