A Co Tyrone medical student has seen major success on viral social media platform TikTok by sharing insights into his daily life.
Conall Rice, 21, is in the third year of his medical degree but posts regular videos on his account about fitness, nutrition and fashion. He has amassed over 150,000 followers on the app and some of his videos have been viewed millions of times.
The Fintona student says it was always a dream of his to create videos online and he started when he was in school, but didn’t exactly get the response he was hoping for from some of his peers.

“It was always something I aspired to when I was younger, I wanted to make content and just started a Youtube channel when I was in third year,” Conall told MyTyrone.
“I was making mountain bike videos with my dad and putting hours into editing them and putting them on Youtube. A lot of my closest friends loved them but the word got around and a lot of people in school saw them, so I got quite a lot of slagging for it.
“I never took it to heart though, I wasn’t really that type of guy but I did stop doing it for a while. But once I got to university I started again after seeing a friend of mine doing really well on Tiktok.
“I started putting up a few random videos from mountain biking, gym videos, and fashion videos. I did a day in the life video and while it didn’t do great at the start but I kept at it and it started to gain a bit of traction.
“It’s such a great app and there are so many good content creators on there. In terms of how I got off the ground I think I just give a unique and authentic insight into my life which is quite personal.
Conall’s most popular video has been viewed over two million times on the popular app, and features his preparation for a match day with his local GAA club, Fintona Pearses.
“It’s quite a funny story that it’s the one that I wasn’t incredibly proud of and I didn’t have any expectations for that turned out to be the best one,” he said.
“When I look back at it now I can see that it is a pretty cool video and I can see why people liked it.
“Another really popular one was one where I did a voiceover for my daily routine. Usually I just use music but I was talking over this one and I think people just love that insight into the weird and wonderful things I get up to every day.
The Tiktoker added that one of the main things he wants to do with his Tiktok content is ‘inspire people to be the best they can'.
“One of my main goals with my content is to inspire people to be the best they can, to step out of the daily nine to five and just going through the motions.
“I think my real passion lies with content creation and being able to share how I view the world and what I find is beautiful and truly important in this life.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to share my message and to share inspiration, motivation and open people’s eyes to the ability that they can create whatever they want for themselves and they should go for it.”
