Co-payment for food deliveries 'next week'

The Thais Help Thais Plus co-payment scheme will be available on four food delivery platforms from June 15, allowing participants to use government subsidies when ordering meals online, deputy government spokeswoman Lalida Persvivatana said on Tuesday.

Consumers will be able to use the scheme on ShopeeFood, LINE MAN, GrabFood and Robinhood through the Pao Tang mobile application between June 15 and Sept 30. Orders placed between 6am and 9pm will qualify for the programme, under which users pay 40% of their food bills while the government covers the remaining 60%.

Ms Lalida said the expansion is intended to improve access to the scheme for people who rely on delivery services, including urban residents, the elderly, caregivers and those who find it difficult to travel to shops and restaurants.

The move is also expected to help small restaurants reach more customers through online channels and generate additional income for local businesses, she said.

Participating platforms will offer additional promotions to users. ShopeeFood will provide discounts of up to 60% and free delivery under the scheme, while LINE MAN will offer discount codes, with total savings capped at 5,000 baht throughout the programme.

GrabFood users will receive discount codes worth up to 100 baht per order, while Robinhood users will be eligible for discounts of up to 100 baht per order. GrabFood will also offer free delivery for the first five kilometres and additional refunds under specified conditions.

Ms Lalida said the partnership with the four platforms would help extend the reach of the government's economic stimulus measures while expanding sales channels for small businesses.
